How Much Is PIP for Anxiety? 2026/27 Rates and What You Could Get
PIP Rates for 2026/27
PIP has two components — Daily Living and Mobility — each with a standard and enhanced rate. Your rate depends on how many points you score, not on your diagnosis. Someone with anxiety could receive nothing, one component, or both at any combination of rates.
| Component | Rate | Points needed | Weekly amount | 4-weekly payment |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Daily Living | Standard | 8–11 | £76.70 | £306.80 |
| Daily Living | Enhanced | 12+ | £114.60 | £458.40 |
| Mobility | Standard | 8–11 | £30.30 | £121.20 |
| Mobility | Enhanced | 12+ | £80.00 | £320.00 |
If you qualify for both components at the enhanced rate, the maximum combined payment is £194.60 per week (£778.40 every four weeks). PIP is tax-free, not means-tested, and paid whether or not you work.
These rates apply from April 2026 to April 2027. The same rates apply to Adult Disability Payment (ADP) in Scotland.
What Anxiety Claimants Typically Receive
There is no fixed amount for "anxiety." Your award depends on which descriptors apply to you across the 12 activities. A person with moderate anxiety who needs prompting for several daily activities might score 8-10 points on Daily Living (standard rate), while someone with severe agoraphobia might score 10-12 points on Mobility (standard or enhanced) as well.
Common scenarios:
Daily Living only (standard): You score 8-11 points across activities like engaging with people, budgeting, food preparation, and washing. Weekly payment: £76.70.
Daily Living (enhanced) plus Mobility (standard): You score 12+ on Daily Living and 8-11 on Mobility Activity 1 (planning journeys). Weekly payment: £144.90.
Both components at enhanced rate: You score 12+ on both Daily Living and Mobility. This usually requires severe restrictions across multiple activities plus agoraphobia or panic disorder affecting travel. Weekly payment: £194.60.
What PIP Unlocks Beyond the Cash Payment
The payment itself matters, but PIP also acts as a gateway to other support:
- Carer's Allowance (or Carer Support Payment in Scotland): A partner or family member who provides at least 35 hours of care per week may qualify for £86.45/week if you receive any rate of PIP Daily Living. Other rules apply, including an earnings limit of £204/week after tax, National Insurance and expenses.
- Benefit Cap exemption: Your household is exempt from the overall benefit cap
- Disabled Person's Railcard: Available to anyone receiving PIP
- Blue Badge: Eligibility depends on the Mobility component rate and local authority criteria
- Motability scheme: Available with the enhanced Mobility rate if at least 12 months remain on your award — you can lease a car, scooter, or powered wheelchair
If your partner qualifies for Carer's Allowance, the 2026/27 rate is £86.45/week. Carer's Allowance can affect other benefits, including Universal Credit.

PIP Is Not Affected by Work or Savings
Unlike Universal Credit, PIP has no means test and no earnings limit. You can work full-time and have savings, but you still need to meet PIP's eligibility rules, including having a long-term condition or disability that causes difficulties with everyday tasks or getting around.
This is specifically relevant for anxiety claims because employed claimants often worry that working disqualifies them. It does not. PIP measures how your condition affects daily activities and mobility — not whether you earn a salary.
How Points Translate to Payment
Points are scored within each component separately. Daily Living points come from Activities 1-10; Mobility points come from Activities 11-12 (Planning journeys and Moving around). You cannot combine points across components.
If you score 6 points on Daily Living and 4 on Mobility, you receive nothing — neither component reaches the 8-point threshold. If you score 10 on Daily Living and 4 on Mobility, you receive standard Daily Living only.
Every point matters. The difference between 7 points (nothing) and 8 points (£76.70/week, plus potential Carer's Allowance and benefit cap exemption) is worth fighting for — which is why getting your evidence and descriptor scoring right from the start is important.
For a structured approach to mapping your anxiety symptoms against each activity and maximising your evidence, the PIP and Adult Disability Payment for Anxiety guide includes an activity mapping matrix and evidence audit table.
